Summary:
You will be a key member of the engineering team driving the Invoicing and Taxes initiatives to create an immersive expansive subscriptions experience for Chargebee’s customers. Along with this, you will also be owning the current Invoicing and Taxes solutions.
In this role, you would be partnering with Product Management, Stability, Cloud infrastructure and other cross functional teams in creating an experience that will make us the market leader in the enterprise subscription business.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Participate & contribute in cross functional forums and take opinionated decisions on architecture choices in building the right platform for our customers.
• Lead the ideation, design & development of applications / services with focus on Security, Privacy & Governance.
• Author technical documents, API specs, implementation guides/patterns for the product, infrastructure and engineering teams. Socialize with fellow architects in governance council to ensure service / feature meets all set quality criteria and obtain sign-off for its General Availability.
• Collaborate closely in a hands-on environment with product management, product engineering and GRC teams to design, build, and operate products securely.
• Ideate on emerging technologies, independently test & build pilots for adoption based on use cases at Chargebee and demonstrate it to the broader engineering community for adoption.
• Write hands-on code to build frameworks, common features and contribute to important initiatives.
• Actively cataloging the non-functional and functional quality of the product through unit tests and API automation
• Lead automation initiatives within taxation to simplify reporting, dashboards and reduce manual effort around vulnerability management
• Own the quality of the product by setting up CI / CD and by performing effective code reviews
• Proactively identify & resolve application performance concerns.
• Work independently with developers, cloud engineers, product managers, engineering managers, application support (L2), solution consultants (L1), external vendors, 3rd party service providers and occasionally customers
• Mentor & coach engineers on Architecture mindset, lead developer awareness programs and help them in career progression.
• Champion adoption of Agile practices with the team.
• Have an active engagement with managed services partners on quality of services , SLA adherence & overall delivery of services.
Must Haves:
• 12+ years of proven experience leading large teams in remote and distributed product engineering setup.
• Solid experience in managing B2C and B2B enterprise grade Backend systems that can work across the various browsers.
• Strong knowledge of Java, Distributed Systems, SQL and NoSQL databases and an understanding of JavaScript frameworks like Vue, React or Angular.
• Experience with building global scale cloud-native systems and modern tech stack: AWS, Spring Framework, RESTful API, and container-based applications.
• Deep understanding of web applications, data and micro service architecture.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture and industry best practices
• Experience creating/supporting production software/systems and a proven track record of identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks for production systems.
• Ability to identify problems with requirements, identify alternatives, and help your team navigate through these issues.
• Awareness and importance of Open standards like OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, OpenTelemetry etc and Authentication / Authorization Protocols and Standards
• Experience in any of the automation & scripting languages like Java Script, Python etc.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to condense complicated scenarios into simple, risk-based assessments
• Effective team player with experience in coaching and supporting junior team members
• Experience in operating using Agile methodologies & use of JIRA / confluence
Nice to haves:
• AWS / Azure architect certifications
• Working understanding of of billing and subscription
• Prior work experience with taxation and related domains
Education:
Any Bachelor’s degree / Post Graduation
