The role:
The Principal Software Engineer role focuses on providing strategic leadership and advanced technical expertise across the organisation. This includes driving the development of high-quality, scalable applications and systems, mentoring and coaching team members, and influencing collaboration and technical direction across teams. The role requires the ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, and align technical strategies with business goals.
Day to day:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship across teams, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to design, prove, document, and deliver solutions aligned with strategic goals.
Guide and influence technical decisions to ensure design feasibility, usability, architecture scalability, and performance.
Champion consistent coding standards and governance practices across teams.
Act as a mentor to engineers and other leaders, shaping career development paths and fostering a learning culture.
Drive strategic initiatives to align technical solutions with business objectives.
Advocate for and adopt best practices across the software development lifecycle.
Influence and guide collaboration standards and practices at the organisational level.
Stay updated with cutting-edge technologies, and share knowledge across the organisation.
Our ideal MyPasser:
10+ years proven experience providing strategic technical leadership.
Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable, and robust system architectures.
Expertise in software engineering fundamentals, including SOLID principles, test-driven development, continuous delivery and feature toggling.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS).
Familiarity with microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures.
Expertise in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Kotlin or Typescript.
Ability to influence collaboration standards across teams and departments.
Advanced mentoring skills, with a demonstrated history of coaching individuals and teams.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities with the capacity to tackle complex technical challenges.
