What we are looking for:
You are a technical writer with more than 15 years of experience in creating documentation for cloud and SaaS products. You will work with a team of product engineers, test engineers, GUI engineers, product managers, and support and sales engineers to create the required documentation. You come with very strong technical documentation skills that helps to convert the complex information into simple words.
Works on documentation of diverse scope where you are required to research and analyze variety of factors and often times collaborate, interact, and communicate with team members within and outside of the department.
Position Overview:
As part of the Cloud Software Group documentation team, you play an important role by contributing to the overall user experience and product adoption. We extensively use feedback mechanisms, SEO techniques, and visitor analytics and take concrete actions for a superior user experience. You will be expected to demonstrate the ability to multitask, work on documentation of diverse scope where your research and analysis skills of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
As part of the project deliverable, we collaborate with developers to come up with product documentation, blogs and create end-to-end use cases to drive product adoption. To achieve this, we use industry-standard documentation toolsto collaborate and deliver documentation at a rapid pace.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Efficiently create and maintain product documentation within groups as needed, or across product groups. Guide improvements and help set priorities at a team level.
• Actively review structure of existing documentation / created content to make product documentation.
• Ensure that product documentation pages are well organized.
• Provide expert guidance on user interface text. Actively improve style guide content.
• Foster effective review practices for team and community contributions to CSG documentation and user interface changes.
• Deeply understand the technology and features of the development stage to which youre assigned and have a general understanding of the end-to-end CSG product(s) to help improve the information architecture of the docs site.
• Actively contribute to evolve the processes and best practices, and lead efforts to encourage other team members regarding contributions.
• Communicate effectively and professionally across all product groups and stages and be a model for collaboration with community contributors.
• Identify and lead cross-CSG department projects that improve the deliverables or processes of the Technical Writing team.
• Be available to interview potential technical writing candidates.
• Mentor other technical writers and team members regarding best practices and other process knowledge.
• Provide positive influence on the adoption of stages per organization through more usable documentation, with the ultimate Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Internal and external contacts often pertain to company plans and objectives.
• Also, work as a sole contributor. When creating content, expected to complete significant writing tasks.
• Participates in project-level meetings to ensure a thorough understanding of the software goals.
• Cross-pollination with other writers of technical information may involve cross-project, cross-site, or cross-department liaison.
• Actively investigate and propose solutions to problems facing the Pubs team. Expected to evaluate options, propose solution, and drive recommended solution to completion.
• Identifies and suggests solutions to resource problems when they occur.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, or Engineering.
• At least 15+ years as a technical writer in product development organizations.
• Should be able to learn new products and technologies quickly and have the versatility to move between projects.
• Should be highly organized, can work independently in a fast-paced environment, and produce documentation deliverables with frequent deadlines.
• Should have an eye for detail, and a non-negotiable attitude toward creating quality documentation.
What are the key characteristics that would make you an ideal candidate:
• Adept in technical writing for cloud and SaaS products.
• A go-getter and proactive towards the delivery goals.
• Good knowledge of technical writing standards such as MSTP.
• Exceptional writing skills in US English.
• Well versed in working in agile environment while being adaptive with the changes.
• Conceptualize, plan, develop, and write documentation sets, including complex technical material, with limited supervision.
• Working knowledge of Madcap Flare or any other topic based authoring tool.
• Drive and willingness to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic.
• Solid understanding of writing and communication best practices (e.g., task-based authoring, structured authoring, chunking information, writing for reuse, etc.).
• Solid and repeatable understanding of project planning in an Agile environment as well as adherence to processes and guidelines.
