Privacy & Official Information Graduate

💰 $3,800 - $6,080 (Est.) 📍 Auckland ⏰ Part Time

Job Description

Full job description
He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Customer Resolutions Team within the Customer Experience and Digital Services (GSS) Department is entrusted with managing complex and sensitive information requests on some of the city’s most pressing issues. This role demands strong judgment, resilience to make challenging decisions, and the ability to work closely with and advise senior leaders across the organisation.

You will play a critical role in enabling us to meet our obligations under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1+87 (LGOIMA) and the Privacy Act 1++3.

You can expect to be involved in a range of projects, research, and programmes which will involve working within various teams, including:

Official Information Requests (LGOIMA)
Privacy
Formal Complaints
Support with escalated issues addressed to the Executive leadership team (Chief Executive, Directors, General Managers).

The role involves working with customers and all areas of Auckland Council to investigate and resolve their issues, or to provide them with access to the information they require. You will manage complex requests involving multiple departments or high political sensitivity, which will require in-depth investigation skills and the ability to write clear and compelling responses.

The team provides leadership and training to the whole organisation on complaints, LGOIMA, and Privacy requests, so there may also be opportunities to develop and deliver training, if that is an area of interest.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We’re looking for a recent graduate with a tertiary qualification in Business Administration or a related field who is eager to build a career in privacy, official information, and local government processes. Some experience gained through internships, part-time roles, or volunteer work in customer service, administration, or policy environments will be valuable, especially where this involves handling sensitive information or complex customer interactions. A commitment to providing excellent customer service and a willingness to develop your skills further is essential.

A basic understanding of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA) and local government functions is ideal, with support provided to grow your knowledge. An understanding of tikanga Māori and Te Reo, or a willingness to learn, is important in this role. You’ll also bring confidence in using Microsoft Office, and familiarity with systems such as SAP, Adobe, reporting tools, or document management systems would be an advantage.
