THE ROLE
The Co-curricular Arts program is a vibrant department of the School which supports the artistic endeavours of our student cohort. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Upper Strings Music Specialist Instructor to provide violin and viola tuition (private individual and/or group lessons) to students at the School.
As an Upper Strings Music Specialist, you will:
prepare and deliver music tuition in the area of specialty
monitor, evaluate and report on student progress and maintain accurate records of student progress
prepare and deliver violin and viola tuition within the frameworks in place in the School
foster a supportive co-curricular Music climate which enhances student growth and confidence
prepare students for music presentations throughout the year such as Assemblies, stage performances and Eisteddfods
This will involve a commitment of approximately one day (with the potential to grow) of private tuition per week where you will invoice families directly for your time. The recommended hourly rate is in line with the QMTA rates which is currently $87 per hour.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will:
have Teaching and/or Performance qualifications in Instrumental Music (violin/viola) from a recognised university or college.
have demonstrated skills and experience in teaching violin and viola to students in private and/ or group situations, across all age levels
have expertise in and an ability to incorporate various contemporary and classical skills and techniques into individual student development
have the ability to plan and deliver engaging private instrumental lessons that maximise learning outcomes for students with diverse learning needs, musical interests and varying levels of musical ability
have eligibility to work in Australia and can obtain a Working with Children Blue Card and/ or registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
Experience with and the ability to direct an Ensemble would be desirable, but not essential.
