BNZ's Procurement tīma (team) negotiate third party supplier agreements on behalf of the business and are experts in the categories we're aligned to. We run RFx for new and existing services; and deliver benefits through strong negotiation and understanding the supplier market. We are looking for an experienced procurement professional with skills in negotiating complex contracts with small, medium and large suppliers based in NZ and globally to join our tīma as a Procurement Partner.

We sat down with our Senior Manager Procurement, and they let us know the following about the tūranga.
What is the tīma culture and environment like?
We are a collaborative tīma focused on being a strategic partner to our internal stakeholders. We aim to deliver market leading negotiations that will support our business now and in the future. We do this by using a category management model within our tīma and each person being an expert in the area they manage.
What projects / mahi will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
Joining our Procurement tīma, this tūranga is aligned to several key categories that support our customers and colleagues including: Properties, Facilities, Tax, Consultancy, Marketing, Brand. These categories form part of a wider remit under the Business Services tīma who support the procurement needs of all BNZ departments (with the exclusion of technology).
You will need to hit the ground running and quickly build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to understanding their needs and contract requirements. You will also have exposure to wider categories through large scale projects across the tīma.
What specific skills are required to be successful?
We're looking for an experienced procurement professional who has an excellent ability to engage easily with a range of stakeholders and influence outcomes collaboratively. You'll bring:
A minimum of 5 years' experience as a procurement partner/category manager negotiating high value third party contracts or similar tūranga (ideally within a complex environment).
Knowledge and understanding of the financial sector (preferred but not mandatory).
Excellent ability in establishing and implement category strategies.
Ability to work in a highly regulated industry and comply with internal regulatory processes and procedures including government legislations under BS11.
Proven experience in going to market (for example, RFP's).
Ability to identify and deliver benefit by way of cost savings, cost avoidance and productivity improvements through strong negotiations.
Skilled in negotiating complex contracts and categories.
Strong acumen and knowledge of procurement practices.
Experience in a corporate environment working on large scale projects and negotiations.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this tūranga?
Ability to mahi in a highly regulated environment.
High level of resilience with the ability to prioritize work under pressure.
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
Why did the last person leave this tūranga?
Due to internal promotions following a recent restructure we currently have a Procurement Partner tūranga on offer. This tūranga will sit within our Business Services tīma reporting to the Senior Manager Procurement. This tūranga plays an integral part of the BNZ Procurement Strategy to ensure we deliver value across our third party supplier contracts to our internal business partners. We are looking for an ambitious and skilled procurement professional to join our tīma.
