The Procurement Policy and Practice Lead is responsible for leading the development, implementation and enhancement of departmental procurement frameworks, policies, procedures and templates. The role contributes to emerging legislative reforms, social procurement initiatives, and Cabinet submissions, while ensuring alignment with VGPB and WoVG requirements. The role provides appropriate oversight, including review of Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) and Secretary/Minister procurement approvals as required. The Procurement Policy and Practice Lead is a key partner to the Groups and will work closely with Group Procurement Representatives to provide expert advice across the procurement lifecycle, with focus on the early stages of the procurement process to achieve the departments procurement goals.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply procurement policy, purchasing and contract management processes (governance), with at least 3 years end to end procurement experience.
Experience and demonstrated ability to prepare and review Secretarial and Ministerial briefings, including advanced written communication skills and attention to detail.
Experience and demonstrated ability to prepare and review procurement strategies, policies, frameworks and legislative requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics or a related discipline are desirable.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
