Produce Technician - PT - Yorkton

What you’ll do: Reporting to the Produce Manager, you will be responsible for delivering legendary service to make all guests of our Co-op feel “at home here” through:

Harvest, clean, and package fresh produce. Complete regular operating tasks in the farm, including seeding, transplanting, and regular cleaning and maintenance. Deliver produce when required.

Assist with implementing strategies to improve produce sales and actively be involved in marketing efforts such as promoting food production and good eating habits by arranging in-store sampling.

As you become more familiar with the technology, you may be asked to aid in identifying or troubleshooting issues that may arise, including of a mechanical or horticultural nature.

Maintain appropriate records including markdown reports and growing/harvest records.

Who you are: You are excited to expand your skills by learning new technologies and food production systems. Also:

Experienced with growing vegetables or other plants (even at home!)

Comfortable with technology, such as Google & Microsoft Office suites, and iPads/Windows computers

Able to work independently without direct supervision

Have a high level of enthusiasm and strong commitment to learning

Mechanically inclined and enjoy working with tools and technology

Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented

Certificate or degree in agriculture, horticulture or related field an asset

You are willing to work all shifts scheduled including days, evenings, holidays and weekends

Maintain good physical condition, physically able to do heavy lifting of 50 lbs, climb ladders, kneel, and work full shifts on feet

Willing to drive locally, possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver license throughout employment
