A note from your future Design Chapter Lead
I’m genuinely excited about where we’re headed at CommSec. We’ve made great strides, but there’s so much opportunity ahead—and we can’t do it without passionate designers like you. If you care about creating meaningful experiences and want your work to improve the way Australians grow their wealth, I hope you’ll consider joining our team. I can’t wait to meet the next creative mind who will help us shape this journey!

See yourself in our team
You are someone who thrives working end-to-end — from discovery, research and service design to UX/UI design and delivery — and will join our collaborative, customer-focused product team. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business SMEs in an agile environment to deeply understand customer needs, translate insights into elegant, scalable solutions, and drive outcomes that deliver real customer and business value. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on design execution, and you’ll be a key voice in shaping the product and the broader customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Lead discovery work to uncover customer problems, validate opportunities, and inform product strategy through research, workshops, and co-design.
Translate insights into concepts, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs, ensuring solutions are both desirable for customers and feasible for engineering.
Apply systems thinking and service design techniques to shape an offering that must anticipate the needs of customers, and the staff who support them.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout the agile lifecycle — from problem framing and ideation to delivery and iteration.
Champion customer-centricity and advocate for best-in-class user experience at every stage of the product development process.
Contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions by grounding decisions in customer insights, design thinking, and data.
Facilitate and participate in design critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies, providing and receiving actionable feedback to continuously improve outcomes.
Contribute to evolving our design system for consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
Measure and validate impact post-launch, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative insights to iterate and improve solutions.
What You’ll Bring

3+ years of experience designing digital products end-to-end in cross-functional product teams.
Growth mindset and drive to develop your own capability and the capability of your colleagues
Proven ability to lead discovery and delivery activities with customers, product, and engineering stakeholders.
Strong understanding of human-centred design methodologies and how to apply them pragmatically in a fast-paced agile environment.
Strong collaboration and communication skills — you’re as comfortable sketching ideas on a whiteboard with engineers as you are presenting strategic concepts to executives.
Excellent interaction and UI design skills, with an eye for detail and craft.
Experience designing for complex systems, services, or platforms, not just isolated features.
Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and a basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, components, design tokens).
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, balancing customer needs with business goals.
A portfolio that showcases end-to-end product design thinking, craft, and measurable impact.
Nice to Have

Experience working in Financial Service,
Exposure to design systems management and contribution.
Familiarity with metrics-driven product development (e.g., running experiments, A/B testing).
Why Join Us

You’ll work on products that genuinely impact people’s lives.
You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, customer-first culture.
You’ll have ownership and autonomy to shape the product as a key member of a cross-functional team.
