Role overview

The Product Designer, Fashion is responsible for the end-to-end design and development of fashion-focused product collections in Canada, including handbags, fashion travel bags, men’s bags, lunch bags, and fashion business bags. This role combines creativity, technical expertise, and strong executional skills to deliver innovative, trend-right products that meet brand, cost, customer, and consumer expectations.

The designer must work across multiple brands and categories while maintaining the distinct DNA of each brand. Reporting to the Vice-President, Fashion and collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Product Designer, Fashion ensures the timely delivery of high-quality products that align with business objectives. The designer must also be comfortable using AI tools and platforms to amplify creativity and improve process efficiency.

Key responsibilities

Product development

Design collections across handbags, fashion travel bags, men’s bags, lunch bags, and fashion business bags tailored to each brand identity and market needs

Create exclusive private label collections for national accounts in line with seasonal trends and customer profiles

Design for multiple brands and categories while preserving each brand’s individual DNA

Conduct trend and market research using tools such as WGSN to identify key directions in materials, colors, silhouettes, and consumer preferences

Leverage AI-powered platforms like New Arc and Vizcom to enhance creative concepting

Ensure design solutions are brand-right, commercially viable, and aligned with both creative direction and business strategy

Align all designs with product briefs and overall business strategy defined by the Vice-President, Fashion Division

Present seasonal concepts and product direction for review and approval

Maintain awareness of target FOB pricing and build designs accordingly

Understand and articulate the impact of component costs and labor to develop commercially viable products

Design execution

Own the creation of accurate and detailed tech packs for sample development

Review factory samples and buyer feedback, compile comments, and communicate necessary revisions, respecting the departmental processes

Manage timelines and sample iterations from initial submission to final approval

Organize and maintain the parts library to ensure consistency and accessibility

Partner with the factories, Import and CRO teams, to ensure proper translation of designs into final product

Follow the development calendar closely to meet all internal and external deadlinesSamples & showroom

Coordinate and prepare samples and swatch cards for buyer approvals, line reviews, and national account meetings

Assist with showroom setup for both internal reviews and customer presentations

Manage all logistics related to sample movement

Cross-functional collaboration

Work closely with internal teams including sales, import, design, and the China office, while respecting departmental processes and workflows

Connected with international partner and vendors to ensure constant innovation

Ensure a high level of innovation, quality, and feasibility throughout the product development process

Key Requirements

Education & Experience

Diploma in design or a related field

3–5 years of experience in fashion accessories design or related field, preferably in fashion handbags

Technical skills

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience working on Mac OS

Strong understanding of mass production, softgoods materials (e.g., nylon, polyester, neoprene, PU, etc.), and bag construction

Experience with tech pack creation and managing sample development

Familiarity with workflow management tools such as Monday.com is an asset

Comfort using AI design and trend platforms (e.g., New Arc, Vizcom) is highly desirable

Soft skills

Strong time management and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines

Excellent organizational skills and sharp attention to detail

Creativity, commercial awareness, and problem-solving aptitude

Flexible, proactive, and confident in a fast-paced environment

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across teams and cultures

Ability to visualize the end product from early concept stages

Effective verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (English/French), located in Quebec but will be communicating with people outside of the province
