Job Description: Logistics Manager for Food Industry
1. Overview:
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of logistics for the food industry organization. The key objective is to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation, warehousing, and distribution of food products while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and standards.
2. Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to optimize product delivery
• Manage transportation providers and negotiate contracts for efficient and cost-effective transportation
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of food products to customers
• Oversee warehousing operations, including inventory management, storage, retrieval, and distribution
• Monitor and analyze logistics data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate logistics activities
• Manage a team of logistics professionals and provide guidance and support
• Maintain compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements, including FDA and USDA regulations
3. Technical Skills:
• Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Inventory control and forecasting
• Supply chain management
• Logistics costing and budgeting
4. Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in logistics management, preferably in the food industry
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Strong leadership and management abilities
• Certifications in logistics management (e.g., CSCP, CCLP) are preferred
5. Skills & Experience:
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative logistics solutions
• Deep understanding of food industry regulations and compliance requirements
• Knowledge of cold chain management and temperature-controlled transportation
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills with vendors and customers
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proven ability to manage complex logistics operations effectively
