MacDermid Graphics Solutions is a supplier of consumable materials used to transfer images on to consumer packaging materials, our products are used to improve print quality and printing productivity. We produce and market photopolymers through an extensive line of flexographic plates that are used in the consumer packaging and printing industries. Photopolymers are molecules that change properties upon exposure to light.

Who are we looking for ?

The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production process within the Wigan manufacturing facility, ensuring that products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the correct Quality standard whilst adhering to the strictest Health and Safety and Environmental requirements.

The Production Manager job purpose is to:
• Ensure that assigned production department operates to the highest Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, meeting the requirements of all applicable laws, policies and procedures.
• Ensure that assigned production department operates to the highest Quality standards, meeting the requirements of the site Quality Management System (QMS).
• Monitor and continually improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness, using appropriate performance indicators.
• Ensure that product is manufactured at the ‘best cost’ by continually seeking opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs, without compromising EHS & Quality. As a minimum meet budget levels of unit cost.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the department and the wider site operations, actively seeking and seizing opportunities, where appropriate utilising Six Sigma tools and techniques.
• Provide leadership and manage assigned supervisors ensuring that their shifts teams are appropriately managed, developed, motivated and committed.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the Wigan site.
• Ensure assigned production department has the production capabilities, people, and equipment to meet predicted future production requirements.

What will you be doing ?
• Production Planning: Work closely with the site Supply Chain department to ensure that production deadlines are met against the plan.
• Resource Management: Manage human and material resources to meet production targets. Ensure the availability of necessary materials and equipment for production.
• Quality Control: Ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.
• Budget Management: Ensure effective monitoring and communication of department performance using appropriate KPIs and PIs, such as OEE, OTIF, yield, variance to budget etc.
• Team Management: Lead by example, displaying ‘role model’ behaviour and championing a culture of continuous improvement.
• Health, Safety & Environment Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate production records and prepare reports for senior management.
• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and equipment malfunctions.

What competencies will you need ?

Proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar role.

Strong knowledge of production management, manufacturing processes, and quality control.

Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Proficient in MS Office and production management software.

Strong health, safety and environmental orientation (ISO14001)

Strong knowledge of quality systems requirements.
