About the role:

The ODPP seeks solicitors from a litigation background with an extensive knowledge of criminal practice and procedure and demonstrated expertise in the development and presentation of legal learning programs for the position of Professional Development Lawyer Level 3. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for an experienced solicitor to develop a range of skills and be closely involved in providing legal expertise and contributing to the training across the Office for the achievement of one of the ODPP's signature behaviours 'Keep Learning'. The successful applicant will need to collaborate with a team and provide leadership in the area of legal training, and will have advanced capabilities in the use of technologies and IT platforms used in the delivery of training programs.

Key accountabilities of the role include:

Responsibility for key aspects of the delivery of the role-mapped training framework for the Solicitor's Office.
Actively identifying priorities in legal education and recommending training solutions for ODPP lawyers (including in legal knowledge, case management, court presentation and in the skills required to effectively deal with key stakeholders including victims and witnesses).
Developing training modules and arranging presentations including for mandatory Continuing Legal Education, including selecting topics and designing course objectives, outlines and content specifications.
Utilising and contributing to the evolution of the various technologies and delivery systems used to support legal training and resources at the ODPP (including Sharepoint online and systems supporting e-learning and AVL presentations).
Embedding ODPP procedures and high professional standards through the facilitation of legal training programs across the Office.
Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels in furtherance of training priorities.
About you:

Hold a degree or diploma in law and admission as an Australian legal practitioner.
Have obtained a Practising Certificate issued by the Law Society of NSW prior to commencing.
Extensive knowledge of criminal practice and procedure.
Advanced organisational skills and the ability to deliver project outcomes within set timeframes.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills, and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders regarding delivery of training outcomes.
Have the proven ability to engage and motivate staff and develop capability and potential in others.
Experience and capability in legal training and a working knowledge of systems/technologies supporting delivery.
