Job Description
About the Role
We require a solicitor to provide legal representation and advice to the council and its managers and staff on a wide range of legal issues. The successful candidate will take primary conduct of a broad range of disputes and advisory work, including:
Assisting the council in resolving disputes
Assisting in legal proceedings, including proceedings in the Planning and Environment Court and various other courts and tribunals
Advising the council on diverse legal issues relevant to local governments
Drafting, reviewing, and advising on various commercial documents
Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a current unrestricted Legal Practicing Certificate and have demonstrated knowledge and experience in litigation and dispute resolution, as well as experience in negotiating disputes. They will possess high-level written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and excellence in delivering independent legal advice and service.
