About The Department

The Committee on Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics is comprised of faculty from many disciplines throughout the University of Chicago that provide trainees a mentored research environment for the exchange of ideas and resources across specialty or departmental lines. The fellowship program, entering its 50th year, offers rigorous training that combines research, didactic and clinical exposure in personalized therapeutics that pertains to any discipline of medicine.

Job Summary

The Program Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations for the Committee on Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics. Reporting to the Chair of the Committee, the Program Administrator is the point person for the Committee and its flagship research and educational missions, including our fellowship training program in Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacogenomics. The Administrator will assist with the implementation of the educational fellowship curriculum, including regular interactions with the program’s trainees. The Administrator will also assist with the Chair’s other educational and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities
• Assists in overseeing the recruitment and training of the program’s post-doctoral fellows, meeting with trainees on a regular basis to review requirements and program progress.
• Coordinates educational courses hosted by the Committee.
• Coordinates and attends the program meetings, creating the agenda, taking minutes, drafting evaluations, following up on action items.
• Assists with providing support letters and related grant application requirements for faculty and fellows.
• Submits advertisements and attends recruitment and career fairs.
• Assists trainees with board application; prepares the program’s re-accreditation application.
• Responsible for assisting with the NIH T32 requirements including both competing and noncompeting renewals.
• Initiates NIH trainee appointments, re-appointments and termination notices via eraCommons.
• Assists with the Chair’s other administrative responsibilities, including cooperative groups, medical school education, and managing the Chair’s calendar.
• Assists with the recruitment and appointment of candidates within the Elwood V. Jensen Scholar program.
• Develops and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
• Manages program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Education:

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Certifications:

Education:
• Bachelor's degree.

Experience:
• Experience with educational program oversight.
• Experience with academic medical operations.
• Experience with educational curricula in a University, clinical, and/or graduate school setting.
• Experience with federal and non-federal post-award policies and the fundamentals of sponsored academic research in a medical institution.
• Experience with financial management.
• Experience with NIH training grants.

Technical Skills Or Knowledge:
• Experience with other software applications (e.g., Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and Excel).
• Proficiency with word processing applications, preparing presentations, and spreadsheets.
