Job Description

The Workforce Experience Unit is focused on ensuring positive workforce experiences through shared values of trust, loyalty, respect, integrity and courage. The team leads the workforce experience program and workforce engagement functions. In addition to their advisory role, the team investigates, supports and assesses the culture, engagement and change management initiatives QFD has developed, implemented or integrated across the department, including analysing and delivering the workforce surveys to all levels of the organisation.

Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team, supporting the development, delivery and review of QFD workforce experience programs, including statewide corporate induction, workforce experience and exit surveys, and the QFD Values Charter, as well as other initiatives and programs focused on building a positive workplace culture. You will provide administration functions and project support to ensure compliance of reporting governance standards, and collaborate with team members so they are aware of their responsibilities and timeframes, as per program reporting requirements to meet business objectives.

About Us

The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.

The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.

The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department's relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability.

Purpose of the role

Key requirements

Knowledge and/or experience in Human Resources project coordination processes and tools, as well as online workforce collaboration and communication software.
Experience supporting the design, build and delivery of training workshops and/or workforce surveys to the organisation to determine and assess initiatives and the effectiveness of those programs.


Your key accountabilities

Responsibilities

Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:

Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of the departments' workforce experience program of work by establishing, monitoring and reporting on program timelines and deliverables, program communication and program outcomes within the team.
Coordinate the scheduling, delivery and review of statewide inductions, including program management relating to participants, presenters and presentations, facilities and resources to support the effective delivery of workforce experience programs.
Liaise, consult and develop effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and partners to support engagement with programs of work and ensure consideration of issues and the delivery of positive outcomes.
Coordinate and provide secretariat support to committees and working groups by preparing agendas, recording and circulation of minutes and monitoring actions and decisions.
Assist in the research, preparation and review of reports, briefs, submissions and other correspondence relating to workforce experience programs and initiatives, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance.
Establish and maintain effective records management systems and processes, including utilizing appropriate technology applications to improve program planning, delivery, communication and reporting.
Support project and program improvement by using evidence-based research to identify opportunities for continuous improvement best practice that enhances positive workforce culture and experience.
