Program Coordinator (Foster Care & Recruitment)
Heritage Family Services is looking for a caring and motivated Program Coordinator – Foster Care & Recruitment to join our team. This role focuses on finding, supporting, and keeping great foster families, while also making sure that children and youth in our care receive safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate support. You'll be leading a team, working closely with foster families, and helping our programs run smoothly.
What You’ll Do:
Foster Parent Recruitment & Support
Plan and run community events and outreach to find new foster parents.
Help potential foster parents through the screening and training process.
Work with our marketing team to create and share promotional materials.
Lead pre-service info sessions and support ongoing training for foster families.
Build strong relationships with families to help them feel supported and valued.
Youth Support & Program Leadership
Create safe and welcoming environments for youth in care.
Help plan care for youth, including cultural and emotional needs.
Step in and manage youth care when needed to keep support consistent.
Team Supervision
Train, guide, and support front-line staff.
Help onboard new team members and practicum students.
Lead regular team meetings and keep supervision records.
Be part of the on-call team to help with after-hours issues.
Administrative & Program Coordination
Keep records and paperwork up to date according to agency and licensing standards.
Oversee youth intake, planning, and discharge processes.
Track foster home licenses and youth case progress.
Operations & Budget Management
Monitor budgets and help manage program costs.
Submit payroll and handle staff scheduling.
Make sure our homes and vehicles are safe and meet standards.
Crisis Support & Communication
Support crisis situations when on-call.
Report incidents properly and communicate with other case team members.
What You Need:
Diploma or Degree in Human Services (or a related field).
At least 2 years of experience working with youth with complex needs.
Experience in foster care, child welfare, or family services is a strong asset.
Valid driver’s license and clean abstract.
Must pass Child Intervention and Vulnerable Sector checks.
