In the Cognitive Services team, a part of Cloud and AI, we are developing technologies that will revolutionize how people interact with each other and their environments. The Cognitive Services Team : https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/cognitive-services/ provides a comprehensive family of AI services and cognitive APIs to help developers build intelligent apps using state of the art AI in speech, vision and language. Our team’s goal is to bring world class AI within reach of every developer/ partner/ customer – especially enabling them to use these technologies to enable interaction via speech, vision and natural language in their applications. To help with executing this vision and in advancing the use of AI broadly, we are looking for an experienced program Manager to be part of the Speech team. The key deliverables for this position are (i) to deliver, working with the engineering team, state of art quality speech to text, and text to speech models for various indian languages, and (ii) to increase adoption of Speech services in India, working with the field team. We expect the person in this role to collaborate closely with our team of developers, vendors and global partners to build roadmap; to develop partnerships for delivering important key features in speech to text or text to speech models; to work with vendors & developers on improving transcription quality; to define innovative ways to get Indic language data for building new/ enhancing speech models. You will also work directly with the Sales team to enable them to increase speech service adoption for India market
Success in this role will require the ability to understand and utilize state of the art AI in speech, extensive collaboration skills, ability to set vision and plan and execute the plan to accomplish the vision. Critical to this role will be utilizing a wide range of existing research methods to improve Speech models (STT and TTS) Quality, figure out innovative ways to acquire data, as well as applying relevant knowledge of cognitive science, human factors, to enable building of new Indic language models. Great oral and written communication skills are essential as you will be working closely with Vendors, customers , Developers, Program Managers across the globe. Ability to successfully work in an agile environment and a proven record of making business impact are also crucial. Though prior experience in AI is a welcome qualification, candidates with proven ability to learn fast and have technical bent of mind also are welcome.
Responsibilities
• Deliver state of the art, high quality, speech to text and text to speech models for Indian languages
• Increase adoption of Speech models in India
• Work collaboratively across disciplines to deliver impactful features, improve transcription quality, build new language models and user insights
• Work on innovative ways to acquire data for new languages STT and TTS models
• Build new ways to measure the quality of speech models
• Competitive studies and user research to understand product gaps
• Work on creating playbooks, decks and demos for GSMO team to showcase to customers
• Help influencing multiple product teams to make impactful, data-driven decisions
Qualifications
• Computer science, or related technical degree. MBA from reputed college is an optional qualification
• 5+ years of experience in the technology industry managing multiple features/ releases across products. Domain knowledge about speech models/ machine learning/ AI services will be a plus for this role
• Proven record of having an impact on products with your user driven thinking and data.
• Ability to quickly and effectively analyze data and present findings clearly to influence product features and direction.
• Passion for learning new technologies and understanding the needs of diverse users.
• Communicate, track, and drive user/ product insights with stakeholders to ensure positive impact on products in a fast-moving agile environment.
