Job Description
We are looking for a well-rounded developer with 3-5 years of information technology experience, the ideal candidate should have at least 2 years developing financial reference data, trading, or risk management systems. The candidate will join the Data Acquisition and Mastering team (which is part of the larger D&TS team) as a programmer/analyst. The candidate s primary responsibility will be to help develop strategic solutions for the business using Markit EDM development platform; this platform is a third party tool licensed by Client which is fit-for-purpose for developing data acquisition, mastering and exception management applications. We use the Markit EDM platform to acquire and master Core Instrument data, we will train the candidate to develop on this platform.
Technical experience should include a combination of database programming and Linux command-line / scripting languages (Shell and Perl). Java knowledge would be a plus. Knowledge of programming algorithms and code optimization techniques is needed. It is very desirable to have a good understanding of the financial industry and Capital Markets and experience working with market and reference data used to support the Fixed Income business.

The candidate s primary responsibility will be to help develop strategic solutions for the business using Markit EDM development platform, working on both small enhancements and larger projects supporting the data needs of our business users. The candidate will work with business users, IT management and various IT groups to identify and document the specifications, analyze data and develop/implement technology solutions. The candidate will be required to develop a solid understanding of the FIT technical architecture including the database and application design, and the impact of design decisions on application performance, maintainability and data quality. The individual must be familiar with industry standard development methodologies and best practices to ensure the team s work is compliant with Sarbanes Oxley, SAS 70, and other system risk management guidelines.
The role requires writing technical and design specifications, as well as coding solutions. The candidate will work on strategic initiatives and tactical enhancements. Members of the project team will include both on-shore and offshore developers. The candidate will be required to do production support of the Markit EDM applications, and will liaise heavily with the FIT team in NY and India, as well as the operational team in San Antonio responsible for reference data management.
Job Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, Skills:
• BS/MS in either Information Systems, Finance/Mathematics, or Computer Science.
• Proven track record of 3-5 years of continuous experience in development and implementation of data solutions, ideally in financial services, specifically with portfolio management or trading applications in a cross-platform environment.
• Proficient SQL coding and tuning, especially MS SQL.
• Experience in working in the MS development environment including .Net and C#.
• Experience supporting the entire software development and implementation lifecycle; work on multiple streams simultaneously. Should be able to work with onshore and offshore developers for solution implementation.
The ideal candidate would have the following:
• Investment Banking or Investment Management application delivery experience, with specific emphasis on Fixed Income.
• Working knowledge of fixed income securities products, including derivatives (Corporates, Munis, Governments, ABS/MBS, interest rate and credit swaps).
• Experience working with security reference data and market data providers such as Barclays POINT, Bloomberg or Reuters.
