Wellspring Alberta is a charitable organization affiliated with the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering individuals living with cancer—as well as their caregivers and families. We offer a wide range of evidence-informed programs and services, all provided free of charge, to help navigate the many challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis.


Our vision is that no one has to face cancer alone.

Wellspring Alberta’s work is made possible through the generous donations of individuals, corporations, foundations and grassroots fundraisers, and with the efforts of committed volunteers, dedicated staff and skilled contracted program leaders.


The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Program Director at a Calgary House, the Programs Assistant–Summer Student will work closely with our program team to support the day-to-day delivery of programs and with the Program Director to update program documentation and systems. This position offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both program and administrative tasks within a dynamic work environment. This is a temporary, full-time position (37.5 hours per week) running from July through August, based in Calgary. Some evening and weekend work may be required.


Responsibilities:

Supports the program team and volunteers in the Centre and on the phones
Answers member and volunteer questions related to programs and refers inquiries where appropriate to the Centre Manager(s)
Assists with updating program management documents, data entry, and document management
Attends Wellspring staff and program team meetings
Supports the program team in preparing program supplies
Hosts Wellspring online programs
Performs other general office tasks as needed

Required knowledge and skills:

Currently enrolled as a student in college, or university
Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
Proficiency including Office 365; comfort in learning applications an asset
Strong interpersonal skills, loves to work with people
Highly organized, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a hybrid work setting
Warm, professional demeanor
Ethical, personal integrity, sense of humour, strong team orientation, flexible, and able to receive productive feedback
