SUMMARY
This person is a coach and mentor to technical staff and junior architects. They have exceptional people and communication skills and can independently lead a project from the pursuit stage through construction completion and ongoing client maintenance. They will be comfortable and have experience interfacing with clients and consultants while holding people accountable, setting deadlines, and delivering milestones through the project's lifecycle. They will be able to make independent decisions in the best interest of the project and be able to supervise others. The Project Architect is expected to forecast and work the resourcing requirements for the project length and will maintain accurate records within our METAFORUM software.
They will inform the Principal In Charge of all project matters and support their team members notified of project objectives, milestone dates, and product deliverables. They will manage client needs and expectations and ensure the buildings METAFOR produces fulfill client objectives while adhering to the established profit margin requirements.
POSITION OVERVIEW
• Responsible for producing a high-quality product by effectively managing the design process and developing contract documents and services during construction.
• Responsible for managing the project scope of work, maintaining a project schedule, and monitoring the project's financial success.
• Responsible to create Project Plans and assign hours and deliverables to the project team
• Responsible for the overall profitability, invoicing and accounts receivables on assigned projects by providing timely input for Project Health meetings
• Responsible to adhere to Design Scope contracts and inform PIC of upcoming deviations
• Responsible to provide feedback for team members performance evaluations
• Ensuring design and technical excellence are maintained through the METAFOR QA Process, working collaboratively with integrated disciplines to deliver the best projects to METAFOR clients.
• Work with the Operations Lead and broader functional discipline leaders to establish and provide input for short term resourcing
• Assist the Marketing Lead and Principals in preparing proposals, and participating in interviews and presentations.
• Take ownership of projects and ensure they are successful by providing value as practical and cost-effective solutions for clients while demonstrating a high degree of design sensitivity.
• Coordinate consultant activity.
• Work with the project team to meet project criteria and deliver scheduled tasks.
• Will assist with the preparation of contract documents and specifications, and complete QA/QC reviews as required.
• Chair or work with other project leaders to chair design/production meetings.
• Work with principals to secure work and build on business development relations.
• Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff.
• · Demonstrates detailed knowledge of office standards, policies, and procedures and can direct others using those resources.
CHARACTERISTICS & SKILLS
• They will have 10+ years of progressive experience and be eligible for registration with AAA.
• This person is a leader, coach, and mentor. They have exceptional communication skills and can lead a project and project team from the pursuit stage through construction completion and ongoing client maintenance.
• Demonstrates thorough understanding of project management process, including scope, budgets, and schedule.
• Exercises maturity in architectural judgment in anticipating and solving complexities and determining program objectives and requirements.
• Performs design review of design documents on several concurrent projects.
• Strong technical background in Revit is an asset.
• High level of creativity, innovative thinking, and problem-solving.
• Excellent sketching and computer skills and conceptual design skills.
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams in the completion of architectural projects.
