Your new local council
We are working with a well‑established infrastructure organisation seeking a Project Engineer - Development to support its Engineering team during a planned short‑term leave cover. This is a five‑week contract ideal for an engineer between roles or seeking a short, well‑defined engagement.
Your new role
Working alongside an experienced engineering team, you'll assist with a mix of development engineering and project delivery tasks. The role is hands‑on, varied, and focused on keeping key projects and approvals moving during the contract period.
Development Engineering Support
Review external Traffic Management Plans and process associated approvals
Assess, approve, and record Works Within Road Reserve permits
Conduct driveway inspections related to permit approvals
Maintain clear and accurate records and documentation
Project Engineering Support
Undertake site surveys using internal GPS / total station equipment, or coordinate external survey consultants.
Prepare concept designs and detailed drawings, or manage external design consultants
Use BricsCAD and Civil Site Design software for 2D/3D design work (where applicable)
Prepare contract documentation and release RFQs
Projects you may support
Guardrail replacement works on a 100‑metre bridge (final design and RFQ preparation)
Drainage, minor streetscape renewal, and road safety improvement projects
Minor intersection realignment works, including design review and procurement support
Road shoulder widening project
Additional engineering tasks as required to support the team
What you'll need to succeed
Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience across development engineering and/or civil infrastructure projects
Understanding of road reserve permits and Traffic Management Plans
Comfortable producing or coordinating civil designs and contract documentation
Experience with BricsCAD, Civil Site Design, or similar civil design software
Able to work autonomously and add value quickly on a short‑term contract
