The City of Calgary is seeking a Project Lawyer with experience in commercial contracts to join the Green Line Project team. This role involves working alongside a diverse group of talented employees and consultants. The Project Lawyer will report to the Manager of Legal Services for Green Line and will have a significant degree of responsibility Primary duties include:

Negotiate, draft, and review various types of contracts and agreements, including procurement documents, construction contracts, access agreements, confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements, agreements with utility providers, and related correspondence.
Provide timely legal and strategic advice on procurement, construction, consulting, regulatory issues, and other related matters.
Deliver a high level of client service while addressing numerous time-sensitive requests in a fast-paced environment.
Proactively develop innovative solutions to legal and other issues to support project and corporate objectives, while also mitigating corporate risks.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), or equivalent degree from a recognized institution and be an active member or eligible for membership with The Law Society of Alberta.
At least 5 years of directly related experience in the areas of commercial contracts, construction contracts, and/or procurement law.
Experience in public procurement, assisting project teams with contract disputes, and providing strategic advice will be considered an asset.
Success in this position requires strong drafting and analytical skills, proven organization skills, a high degree of motivation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
The successful candidate will enjoy collaborating with clients, will be able to work independently but also as part of a team, and is creative and solution oriented in their approach to their work.
Pre-employment Requirements
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications and execute a confidentiality agreement in relation to the Green Line Project.

Workstyle
This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
