This role is a fixed term position in response to increased demand within our high priority work programmes. We are surging in people and resources in response to these priorities.

Mo te turanga mahi | About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the Projects Team. This role is fixed term to 30 June 2026 and will be supporting complex initiatives in the Strategy, Stewardship & Performance (SSP) business group. The Group uses data and evidence to inform policy, help advise ministers, set the Ministry's strategy to deliver on core priorities, and inform decision-making. The Group's integrated planning and programme delivery function helps the Ministry to prioritise its work then plan and deliver it.

The Projects team provides professional project management services across the Ministry by:

Supporting the planning and management of complex projects to ensure successful delivery, including mapping and meeting core milestones and deliverables

Supporting the building of project management capability in others e.g. Principals, Seniors and Analysts/Advisors who are expected to lead projects of varying complexity

Proven experience in planning, managing and delivery of complex projects, using a range of industry recognised project management methodologies and techniques.

Ability to provide high value enabling services to a range of projects including the ability to identify, manage and mitigate risks.

Ability to coach other roles in project management e.g. Project Leads such as Senior Advisors | Analysts.

Demonstrated skills in getting the best out of people under pressure with highly developed negotiating, influencing and communication skills.

Flexibility to adapt within a fast-paced environment and hold expert prioritisation and planning skills.

Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau | Salary range

Salary range for this role is $108,976 to $132,277 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
