We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Project Manager.
Who We Are
The Group Transformation Centre (GTC) – Wealth and Personal Banking, sits within our Global Service Centre (GSC). It works with our Global Businesses and Functions to accelerate, orchestrate and deliver change outcomes that help HSBC achieve its strategic priorities. The team manages projects globally, using best-in-class execution skills, and delivers at pace to achieve the desired business outcomes on large, complex, cross-function projects. Its work includes digitising customer journeys, implementing regulatory and compliance guidelines and working with product and proposition managers to launch / enhance products and propositions in the market. The team utilises a design-led approach and Agile Methodology. It delivers cost effective, flexible, outcome-focused transformation through:
Robust business analysis - working with the business to conceptualise solutions/operating models
Change adoption activities to seamlessly embed change and promote benefit realisation
Program and project management to drive momentum and deliver strategic changes, ensuring quality and pace
The Opportunity
Global Transformation Project Managers plan, mobilise and direct projects of medium to high complexity and scale from definition to closure. They play a key role in delivering our strategy to be the world's most digitally accessible bank. They are typically responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a single project, or a work-stream of a larger project or program, proactively balancing scope, schedule, budget, risks, outcomes and benefits. They are responsible for deploying Business Transformation Frameworks (BTF) and Agile Methodologies within their project. They work closely with Program Managers and Heads of Products and Propositions to ensure alignment of their project with the wider change portfolio and business strategy. Project Managers may support 'small changes' by providing oversight and guidance to multiple smaller initiatives within a priority market.
Principal responsibilities
• Planning effectively around delivery constraints and optimising the plan to maximise benefits and minimise risk. Ensuring the baselined scope, requirements, benefits, schedule and budget are managed as outlined in Business Transformation Frameworks
• Proactively monitoring project execution to effectively identify risks/issues/dependencies as they arise throughout the project lifecycle
• Collaborating and building positive stakeholder relationships, providing regular updates, obtaining buy-in from the project sponsor, Steering Committee and other stakeholders for all key project plans, commitments and changes including requirements
• Analysing management reports and deriving insights to drive the right business decisions
• Managing change adoption to ensure the change is well received, contributing to benefits realisation.
Project Managers are expected to:
• Produce well-defined project plans, identifying the key milestones and assigning responsibilities / resources in line with the Global Transformation Project Management Framework
• Provide timely reports on project status, risks and issues, evaluating project performance based on management information using standardised metrics and templates in Clarity
• Maintain project change control, ensuring any changes to baseline are managed through change requests and all impacts are considered
• Promote and take accountability for project quality; identify opportunities to improve delivery and oversee the governance process to reduce risk and ensure effective and timely decisions are taken
• Work effectively in a cross-functional team setup, proactively focusing on closing resource gaps
• Define high level responsibilities and objectives for the members of their project team and ensure the individuals are being used in accordance with their skills and resource request
• Act as a role model to create and maintain a collaborative team environment which supports and encourages the professionalism and development of our teams Requirements
Requirements
Project Managers are required to take decisions and lead change initiatives, and, on occasion, manage stakeholder and senior management relationships. They work largely unsupervised and are expected to exercise independent initiative and judgement in proactively overcoming obstacles to success, dealing with uncertainty and changing circumstances, such as interdependencies, opportunities or risks. They are expected to adopt an agile and flexible approach to their work and an outstanding level of professionalism and conduct.
What you'll need to succeed in the role:
Knowledge:
• Understanding of the project lifecycle, Business Transformation Frameworks and best practice techniques.
• Agile / scrum methodologies of project delivery.
• Understanding of key activities for change adoption.
• Knowledge of project management tools such as Clarity/JIRA/MS Project
• Understanding of banking/HSBC and how change drives benefits for HSBC, its customers and other stakeholders.
• Domain knowledge of any of the following: Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Risk, Compliance, Payments
• Understanding of the purpose, value, culture and fundamentals of global transformation
Experience:
• Relevant experience with complex projects across countries or regions.
• Organisational skills and ability to pick up work right away
• Understanding of the banking and/or financial services industry and/or shared services organisations
• Experience of significant change management and collaboration with stakeholders across locations
• Ability to interact and influence stakeholders at an appropriate level
• Self-driven approach
• Problem solving ability with adherence to deadlines and tight timelines
• Experience in project tracking (setting up project plan, managing risk and issue log, reporting and governance)
• Experience in change adoption processes; planning and implementing change intervention to enable smooth transition and embed changes and transition to business as usual; from requirements gathering, communications through to training the final user
• Experience with transformation changes Design & Initiation (D&I) is an advantage
