About us
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
Legal Aid NSW also manages service agreements with non-government organisations to deliver legal and non-legal services across NSW.
About the role
Working within a welcoming and passionate team, the role provides support to the Senior Project Officer (Policy) and Manager, WDVCAP* Unit, in relation to domestic and family violence policy development, managing service agreements with non-government providers, and other professional support matters.
Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program
About the WDVCAP Unit
The Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program (WDVCAP) Unit administers NSW Government funding for Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Services (WDVCASs) through service agreements with non-government providers. WDVCASs provide women experiencing domestic and family violence with information, referrals, safety planning, court advocacy and case management. The WDVCAP Unit also manages Commonwealth funding for the Family Advocacy and Support Service (FASS) Social Support Services. The FASS is an integrated model of legal and social support for people impacted by domestic and family violence and going through the family law process.
The WDVCAP Unit monitors WDVCAS and FASS services to ensure they meet their service agreement obligations. We also provide policy advice and practice support, such as mentoring and training to frontline staff.
The WDVCAP Unit works in partnership with:
NSW Police Force
NSW Local Courts
Department of Communities and Justice
Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
Non-government organisations and peak bodies
Other stakeholders including Corrective Services and NSW Health.
About you
The successful candidate will possess exceptional writing abilities, knowledge of the domestic and family violence sector, and strong program management skills, preferably including service planning and experience with procurement. You will play a crucial role in our collaborative team, driving impactful policy initiatives.

The essential requirements for this role
You must:
be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check
hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
For the first two weeks, full-time attendance in the office is required for training and induction purposes. Following this, in line with Legal Aid NSW’s flexible work policy and the WDVCAP Unit team design agreement, attendance is required in the office at least twice a week.
