Your Impact
Join our high-performing team as a Project & Utilities Engineer and take the lead in delivering capital projects, utilities optimisation, and sustainability initiatives at our Papakura site. You’ll play a key role in improving site performance, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical utilities infrastructure.
You’ll manage energy and water usage, support process automation and upgrades, and contribute to a decarbonisation roadmap that aligns with our strategic goals. This is a high-impact role for an experienced engineer ready to drive real change in an FMCG environment.
Please note: This role is for a 6-month Fixed Term Contract.
Key Responsibilities
Lead utilities operations across boilers, chillers, compressors, refrigeration, water, and waste systems
Identify and implement plant and process improvements to lift capacity, efficiency, and safety
Deliver capital engineering projects in line with business strategy and compliance requirements
Support site sustainability targets through energy recovery, water reuse, and carbon reduction initiatives
Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement in utilities performance
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners (e.g. Veolia, WaterCare) to manage effluent and trade waste systems
Prepare technical documentation for projects and support commissioning and HAZOP processes
About You
You’re a technically strong engineer with a passion for process improvement, sustainability, and delivering practical, lasting results. You enjoy collaborating with others to solve problems and take ownership of both daily operations and long-term strategy.
You also bring:
3-5 years’ experience in a similar role with proven knowledge of utilities systems (boilers, chillers, air, water, effluent)
Strong project management and organisational skills
Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to stay focused and effective under pressure
Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Utilities highly desirable
