The Role
We now have an excellent opportunity for domestic loss adjusters across the UK. Your role will involve handling a portfolio of domestic losses, from visiting the customer to finalisation of the claim. With appropriate experience and perhaps some professional qualifications, you will progress to handling claims of values up to £100k. Full training will be provided to deliver the right outcomes for our customers, our Insurer clients and Sedgwick.

We consider candidates with no loss adjusting experience but with the right attributes. Our adjusters adopt a mix of site, home and office-based working throughout the week which helps support a healthy work/life balance. You will also engage and work with multiple internal and external specialists, so excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate various parties are essential, while always ensuring you have kept the customer fully updated at all times.

Whilst you will be comfortable working on your own, you'll be a core part of our extensive team of adjusters, with dedicated team-based technical and managerial support working alongside you to assist with the management of your portfolio and deliver exceptional customer service. Systems training will be available as required and we will also provide appropriate support for remote (home) working if necessary.

Requirements
Effective communication is crucial for this role as you will need to interact with policyholders, insurance companies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills to assess the cause and extent of the loss.
Dealing with property damage claims often involves complex situations and challenges.
Accuracy is crucial in assessing property damage and determining the appropriate compensation.
You will handle multiple claims simultaneously, and as you'll be planning your own week, you must effectively manage your time, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines to ensure timely resolution of claims.
You must demonstrate empathy and provide excellent customer service, showing understanding and support throughout the claims process.
Strong negotiation skills to reach fair and satisfactory settlements for all parties.
Occasionally you may need to work away from home during exceptionally busy times, or when there is a business need in another region.
Maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and adhere to professional standards and codes of conduct.
Be adaptable and able to quickly adjust your approach to different situations, ensuring effective and efficient claim resolution.
An understanding of insurance policies, claims processes, and the technical aspects of property damage assessment. Or, if you don't have any of the above, an understanding of how a home insurance policy operates and the basic construction of a domestic property.
