Job Description
About Prepared
We're experts who believe buying a home should be exciting, not overwhelming. We've built contract review technology that gives buyers clarity before they commit that is fast, affordable, and backed by qualified lawyers.
We've just opened our doors. The founding team brings over 25 years in real estate and over 10 in property law. Through our partnerships, we're starting to scale. Now we need the lawyers who'll define what "Prepared" means in practice.
We're building a team that's flexible, friendly, and recognises great work. No egos. No legacy systems. Just a genuine shot at doing conveyancing properly.
The role
We're hiring an experienced property lawyer (~3+ years in high-volume residential conveyancing) to join our founding legal team in Victoria.
What you'll own:
High-volume purchaser matters, end-to-end with contract reviews at the core
Triage and review of Contracts of Sale using Prepared's technology, identifying risks, flagging special conditions, delivering clear, actionable advice
Direct input into the product: what's working, what's missing, where tech can better support legal judgement. Your feedback shapes what we build.
Defining workflows, templates, and playbooks while partnering with founders and ops to build the systems that scale with the team
Coaching future team members as we grow
A note on this stage: As a founding hire, you'll operate without dedicated paralegal support initially. This suits someone who wants full autonomy and enjoys building robust, scalable processes. As we grow, administrative support grows with us.
Why this role is different
Build from day one. Shape workflows, quality standards, and client experience, not inherit someone else's.
Real autonomy. Own your files, make decisions, move fast. We back your judgement.
Volume with clarity. Strong inbound channels and tech that removes the admin drag, so you can focus on the law.
It's people's futures, not just paperwork. We never forget what's actually at stake in a property purchase. That mindset runs through everything we do.
Sustainable workloads. Conveyancing has seasonal spikes, we know that. When workloads stretch, we recognise and reward the extra effort, then proactively review file allocations to bring things back to sustainable. Not lip service. How we're building.
Flexibility. Hybrid work (Melbourne/VIC). Outcomes matter, not desk time.
Growth. Clear paths into leadership, operations, or specialist streams as we scale.
You'll thrive here if you
Have ~3+ years' post-admission experience in residential conveyancing with high-volume caseloads
Know VIC settlement practice inside out - SRO Duties Online, VOI, PEXA, ATO FRCGW and GST withholding schemes
Can review a Contract of Sale, identify risk in special conditions, and advise purchasers clearly and quickly
Communicate with clarity and empathy - translating legal risk into plain-English, actionable advice is second nature
Love momentum, ownership, and continuous improvement
Care about people and outcomes, not just files
What you get
Strong compensation that reflects what we're asking of you
Hybrid flexibility - work from home plus in-person collaboration
Modern tooling and automation to keep you on the front foot
A team that backs great work and celebrates wins
A rare opportunity to build a category-defining legal service from the ground up, including input into future hiring, support models, and playbooks
Must-haves
Current (or ability to secure) an unrestricted Australian Practising Certificate
Unrestricted right to work in Australia
Strong references that speak to speed, accuracy, and client care
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Work from home
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Richmond VIC 3121
