About the Role

The Property Officer position sits within Council’s Land Management team which provides a comprehensive property management function by overseeing Council’s commercial and community tenancy and land portfolios.

Reporting to the Senior Property Officer, the Property Officer will support the delivery of Council’s land, property and tenancy management objectives to optimise the use of Council’s land.

The successful candidate will use their experience in leasing and land management to support the delivery of a wide range of tenancy arrangements across Council’s community and/or commercial property holdings as well as perform a variety of land management functions including encroachment management, road closures and encumbrance management.

Key Duties:

perform all operational property management activities for Council’s commercial and non-commercial property holdings (including commercial, retail, residential, pontoon, sporting, community and cultural tenancies).

With the guidance of Senior Property Officers’ facilitate and undertake low/medium risk and value negotiations on behalf of Council with existing and prospective tenancies.

Manage and maintain Council’s property management systems including land register, corporate land records, tenancy register within corporate systems and in line with organisation and statutory requirements.

Negotiate conditions associated with the approval for use of Council owned or managed land with both internal and external stakeholders.

About you

The successful candidate will:-

hold a relevant qualifications in property or related discipline and/or have demonstrated equivalent experience in a similar role.

have strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to liaise with Council’s community and commercial tenants, other property professionals, government agencies and other internal/external stakeholders.

A strong knowledge and experience working with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures as they relate to real estate/property.

have a demonstrated ability to proactively manage and mitigate legal, financial and reputational risks arising from land and property related transactions.
