Join our assertive outreach service, caring for those with serious mental illness complicated by a variety of co-morbid disorders and psychosocial difficulties. Your expertise at developing therapeutic relationships, your knowledge of treatment of psychosis and your ability to provide leadership in a dedicated team will help improve the lives of those experiencing difficult to treat serious mental illness. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, working alongside forward-thinking, multidisciplinary colleagues where professionalism and compassion go hand-in-hand.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our Assertive Outreach Team, based at Hillmorton Hospital, is an integral part of Health New Zealan Canterbury's integrated mental health system. The team includes a psychiatric training registrar, registered nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologist, Pukenga Atawhai and community support worker. The team has strong relationships with NGOs together with our general adult outpatient and inpatient services.

About You

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist with:

Experience in adult mental health
A strong commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary teamwork
An innovative, patient-centred approach to care delivery
Eligibility for Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
