About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated public health nurse to join our team in the Northern Region. This role is part of the Health Protection Directorate and involves working with clients and their whanau in the community to protect against disease, promote wellbeing, and strive for equitable health outcomes.
You will be responsible for case management, contact tracing of notifiable diseases, including outbreak response, and long-term care of patients with communicable diseases. Our team works directly with clients and their whanau to empower wellbeing and improve health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Case management and contact tracing of notifiable diseases
Outbreak response and long-term care of patients with communicable diseases
Working directly with clients and their whanau to promote and empower wellbeing
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will have a commitment to delivering Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all. You will also need:
A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with a wide range of clients
Experience working with iwi/hapu and Māori communities
Public health nursing experience preferred but not essential
Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
