PUBLIC HEALTH SPECIALIST
The responsibilities for this position include:
You will provide evidence-based input and advice based on your expertise and data on all public health projects undertaken by the organisation. You will also participate in the monitoring and evaluation of health policies and plans, as well as in the advocacy and dissemination of best practices.
You will write technical reports, conduct basic and advanced data analysis, research public health and healthcare related topics, and add any other relevant personal and professional skills such as GIS, data visualization, R/STATA/Python.
You will assist with the development and finalization of public health reports, grant writing, assessments, organising of conferences and stakeholder workshops as well as strategic planning.
Important skills required are:
A. Technical Writing
• Synthesize multiple perspectives, stakeholder-generated ideas, and data into programmatic descriptions such as grant narratives or evaluation reports
• Organize and communicate researched topics and data in a variety of technical and creative formats
• Create written content that can be displayed across multiple platforms and for diverse audiences
• Use a variety of software and interactive platforms to present and gather information and engage audiences
Data Organization & Analysis
• Identify, collect, and organize data for various assessments and reports, including:
• Quantitative & qualitative data analysis
• Clear & concise data presentation, including report generation
• Consider creative data display for communicating with a variety of audiences
• Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate data from a variety of sources on a variety of public health related topics.
The candidate must be able to independently conduct empirically sound and statistically robust primary research on an array of public health issues..
Additionally:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required are:
• Familiarity with public health concepts and foundational frameworks.
• Ability to identify problems, and utilize evidence-based practices to develop and implement solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to protect confidential health information.
• Ability to assertively solve problems and clearly state expectations.
• Excellent written communication skills as writing proposals, discussion papers, issue briefs, policy briefs, reports is part of the responsibility
• Regularly publishing in economic journals/magazines and dailies
• Organise seminars, discussions and consultations
• Proficiency in making presentations, report writing and delivering high accuracy in all work products
• Should be a team player, highly motivated, particular about observing deadlines and prepared for outcome-based performance evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
• Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Community Health and Medicine, or a related degree. Master of Public Health degree preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of job-related experience in public health is preferred in the area of qualitative and quantitative research and policy advocacy in the sector
• Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Familiarity with NFHS, PLFS, NSS and other similar databases will be an advantage.
