Purchasing Manager – Food Ingredients
H&M USA Inc is a leading importer/distributor of food ingredients for the food, beverage, cosmetics, and nutritional industries in N.A. market.
We are currently seeking purchasing manager for our corporate office in Ontario, California. Candidates must be bright, self-motivated, energetic individuals with experience in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, technical knowledge of food ingredients, and the ability to build strategic supplier relationships that support cost efficiency, product quality, and inventory stability.
The purchasing manager will work cooperatively with operations, sales and accounting to fully service accounts to ensure customer satisfaction.
Excellent verbal communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and ERPs as well as basic computer skills is required. Ability to multi-task, handle changing priorities and work with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization. Starting salary will commensurate with experience.

Duties
Lead the sourcing and procurement of food ingredients (vitamins, sweeteners, amino acids, extracts, etc.) from global and domestic suppliers
Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with cost, quality, and delivery objectives
Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers; maintain strong vendor relationships
Monitor global market trends and pricing to optimize buying decisions
Collaborate with sales, logistics, QA, and inventory teams to ensure supply chain continuity
Manage purchase orders, contracts, and supplier performance
Negotiate terms, pricing, and lead times to maximize value
Ensure regulatory and quality compliance with all sourced materials
Skills
Proficient in inventory management systems and logistics planning.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with suppliers.
Experience in contract management, including drafting, reviewing, and executing agreements.
Familiarity with Oracle EBS and SAP software for procurement processes.
Ability to fabricate solutions that meet operational requirements while adhering to budget constraints.
Excellent analytical skills to assess supplier performance and market conditions.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments
Qualifications
Fluency in both English and Mandarin is a must.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Food Science, or related field
5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in the food ingredients or food manufacturing industry
Strong knowledge of global sourcing, raw material markets, and vendor management
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
Proficiency in ERP systems and Excel
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
