Job Description
We are seeking passionate back-end developers with a growth mindset to join our IT Department to create, code, and improve the server, server-side applications, and databases well synchronized and in collaboration with front-end codes for high-quality web and mobile applications creating a functional and seamless experience for the end-user. The candidature requires an adept understanding of industry trends, a problem-solving attitude to create or improve smooth back-end processes and codes, and cordial teamwork to design a better program. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in Python, Laravel, and PHP.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Below are some of the responsibilities a back-end developer is expected to assume in their position:
- Be proficient in server-side development and optimization of data, including database creation and management, and debugging
- Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
- Create and maintain software documentation
- Create user-friendly and intuitive interfaces
- Create and analyze reliable and secure back-end functionality
- Maintain, expand, and scale websites and applications
- Develop RESTapis
- Remain knowledgeable of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to operations and activities
- Collaborate with the front-end developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experience and to match visual design intent
- Record data and report it to proper parties, such as clients or leadership
- Provide training and support to internal teams and clients' teams as needed be
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use
- Participate in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new programming languages, and better assist other team members
- Take lead on projects, as need be
QUALIFICATION AND SKILL SET
Below are the qualifications expected of a back-end developer:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field
- Basic web languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Framework and its libraries: 1) Laravel - Lumen, Jetstream, Livewire, Inertia, Authentications (Sanctum, Passport, etc) AND/OR 2) Python - Django, Flask
- Server-side templating languages including 1) Laravel - Blade AND/OR 2) Python - Jinja 2 and Mako
- Experience in Databases: Mysql, SQL, PostgreSQL
- Experience in using server tools: (Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM) and cloud servers (Azure, AWS, Linode, Digital Ocean, Rackspace, etc.)
- Understanding of object-oriented programming
- Experience with the design and implementation of APIs
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Strong problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or with a group

Minimum 1-year industry experience
