Epiphan Video is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to strengthen our QA team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for Epiphan Pearl devices and the Multimedia Platform, primarily using Python, Pytest, and Playwright - while also supporting our UI component tests in TypeScript. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality video streaming and encoding solutions.
Note: This position is based in Ottawa, ON, with a hybrid work format available. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 3 (three) days a week. This arrangement is subject to change based on business needs.

Key responsibilities:
Develop and maintain API and end-to-end automated tests using Python, Pytest, and Playwright
Create, expand, and maintain existing Playwright component tests for our frontend applications using TypeScript
Design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases covering functionality, usability, and performance
Identify, document, and track defects using bug-tracking tools; verify fixes through retesting
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business analysts to translate requirements into thorough test coverage
Perform regression testing to ensure new changes do not introduce defects
Conduct quality validation for Epiphan’s video streaming and encoding software
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
5+ years of hands-on experience in QA automation
5+ years of experience in manual testing
Proficiency in Python, Pytest, and Playwright
Working experience with TypeScript
Strong Bash scripting knowledge
Proven experience building and maintaining end-to-end UI tests
Solid understanding of software testing principles and methodologies
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tooling
Strong Linux proficiency
Familiarity with code quality practices (code reviews, static analysis, linting)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to have:
Knowledge of FFmpeg
Familiarity with video encoding and decoding techniques
Experience with test reporting frameworks such as ReportPortal or Allure
Embedded systems or firmware testing experience
