Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor to lead our QA team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is designed as a growth-track position, with the opportunity to advance into a QC Manager role based on performance, leadership, and business needs.
This position is responsible for overseeing food safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the highest level of product quality across all production lines, including alignment with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of GMPs, HACCP, SQF requirements, and food safety regulations, and the ability to drive continuous improvement within the Quality department. This role requires a high level of flexibility, including availability to support weekend operations and extended hours when needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and lead the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with all food safety and quality standards
• Oversee daily QA operations, including line inspections, documentation review, and product evaluations
• Ensure adherence to GMPs, HACCP plans, SQF standards, and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, etc.)
• Serve as or support the SQF Practitioner, maintaining and improving the SQF system
• Conduct routine facility audits, sanitation inspections, and process verifications
• Prepare for and support SQF, customer, and regulatory audits
• Investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Review and maintain accurate QA documentation, logs, and records
• Train and coach employees on food safety, GMP compliance, and SQF standards
• Collaborate with Production, Sanitation, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on quality goals
• Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and compliance
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
• Develop leadership capabilities to support future transition into a QC Manager role
Qualifications & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or related field preferred
• Minimum 2–5 years of QA experience in food manufacturing
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience required
• Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SQF standards, FDA/USDA regulations, and food safety systems
• SQF Practitioner experience or SQF certification strongly preferred
• Experience with audit readiness, SQF audits, and compliance programs
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (Required)
• Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and quality systems
• Must be flexible to work weekends and extended hours as needed
Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Food manufacturing environment (may include cold, wet, or production areas)
• Standing, walking, and inspecting production areas for extended periods
• Exposure to production noise, machinery, and varying temperatures
• Ability to support operations outside standard hours, including weekends
