About the Role
We are seeking a Quality Control / Quality Assurance Technician to join our PM team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. From inspecting raw materials and monitoring production lines to conducting laboratory tests and supporting food safety programs, you will play a critical part in safeguarding the integrity of our products and strengthening customer trust.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections and quality tests to ensure incoming materials, WIP and finished good products align with established quality standards and specifications.
Conduct in-process and finished product inspection as required
Monitor and review incoming paperwork to ensure accuracy of information including but not limited to: supplier name, lot number, origin, and Quantity.
Perform verification of product. Ensure the quantity and quality of material received meets standards required.
Conduct relevant physical, chemical and organoleptic testing on ingredients, raw materials, and finished product.
Manage sample collection per production run. Collect samples at various stages of production.
Assist QA Department in Implementing, verifying, and validating regulatory compliance of food safety programs and processes in all areas including, but not limited to, transportation, storage, purchasing, equipment, training, sanitation, pest control, recall, and allergens
Communicating product quality and food safety standards and procedures to employees, supervisors, and other staff; auditing production lines to ensure compliance within specifications. .
Assist in follow up, investigations and issue any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant process (e.g. HOLD) or resulting from customer complaints and RMAs
Responsible for monitoring, inspecting and proposing measures to correct or improve the products at various stages of production to meet quality standards.
Ensure facility and equipment are ready for operation each day
I review of documents / records on the floor, investigate product faults, conduct root cause analysis, and provide feedback
Responsible for verification of QA/QC daily records
Responsible for the inventory of laboratory supplies, QC / QA / Production records
Perform pre-operation inspection and environmental monitoring program and ensure all relevant parts of equipment and areas of the facility are covered thru program. Ensure results are populated/updates in Environmental Monitoring Matrix
Required to move between shifts/weekends for vacation and production scheduling support
Following Company policies and procedures, including Company safety policies and procedures, as well as those set out by WorkSafeBC.
Other duties (QC technician tasks, sample request inquiries, other projects) as assigned
Requirements, Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or Chemistry
Prior experience performing quality checks in a food manufacturing facility
Prior experience managing products’ quality compliance.
Safe Food for Canadian Regulations / HACCP / SQF
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present effectively to groups
Two to three years of related food industry experience
Ability to balance multiple priorities and ensure significant issues are communicated clearly to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner
Strong analytical skills required for data interpretation and analysis
Proficiency with MS Office
Must be able to interface effectively with a wide variety of associates
Possess ability to communicate concepts, systems, procedures, etc., in a training environment
Experience in training large groups is beneficial
Must possess leadership ability to inspire others to achieve desired results
Flexible and adaptable to learning and understand new technologies
Must be able to work AM, PM or Graveyard shifts
