Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of production, packaging, and storage areas to ensure compliance with GMPs, sanitation, allergen controls, and food safety procedures.
Perform quality checks on raw materials, work-in-process products, and finished goods.
Monitor and document Critical Control Points (CCPs), preventive controls, and operational prerequisite programs.
Complete daily quality records accurately and in a timely manner.
Verify production line start-ups, changeovers, and label checks.
Collect product and environmental samples for testing and retain management.
Collaborate with the investigation of non-conformances and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Assist with internal audits, SQF inspections, and customer audits.
Support traceability exercises, mock recalls, and food defense programs.
Monitor calibration of measuring and monitoring equipment.
Communicate food safety or quality concerns immediately to supervisors and management.
Assist with employee GMP and food safety training as needed.
Ensure compliance with CFIA, FDA, customer, and SQF requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience in food manufacturing or quality assurance,
Knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, allergen management, and sanitation programs.
Diploma or certificate in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Microbiology, or a related field is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and data entry.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Comfortable working in a production environment.
Schedule
3 days per week to start, graduating to full time employment within 6 months.
Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on production needs.
