Responsibilities
This position is responsible for all duties at the radiology reception desk including but not limited to; answering phone, triage and distribution of calls, importing image CDs, burning image CDs, image retrieval requests, printing film copies of studies, and checking patients in using the EMR systems
This position reports to the team lead or manager
Answer incoming calls and route to the appropriate location according to established procedures; provide direct numbers as required; respond to emergencies according to established policies and procedures; page physicians and other hospital staff through the paging system
Prepare and burn radiological imaging onto CD's, import images from external CDs, import images submitted electronically, print x-ray film and radiology reports for distribution both internally and externally to physicians and the families of patients; receives and sort files, retrieves and destroys x-ray film and CD's according to establish polices and procedures
Welcome patients and their families; visitors and vendors; directing them appropriately to the appropriately waiting area; keep families updated as to the status of their appointment time
Prepare image CD's for release and respond to subpoenas after reviewing and verifying the written authorization to release information
Provide clerical and other support functions to ensure efficient operation of the front desk area
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment; adhere to prescribed policies and procedures regarding confidentiality, and other issues; and perform other duties and special projects as required
Supports continuing improvement processes within radiology and the hospital
Employ good customer service assistance to patients, families, physicians and staff
Participate as a positive radiology team member with respectful interactions, collaboration and integrity
