This role is pivotal to the delivery of heritage and visitor projects, while providing essential field leadership to the Reefton team. The position will be focussed on:
providing on'site field supervision and technical guidance for staff, volunteers and contractors
delivering assigned heritage and visitor projects under the direction of the supervisor
maintaining visitor assets including huts, bridges, tracks, historic sites, campgrounds and amenity areas
leading safe field delivery and actively managing risks in remote environments.
This will involve staying overnight for multiple days in remote and rugged terrain. While this position is mostly field-based you will also be required to complete office-based tasks with planning and organising of projects.

demonstrated ability to lead and supervise field teams
experience maintaining visitor facilities, tracks and structures
practical skillset with carpentry or construction experience
a high level of physical fitness and experience in the backcountry
strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage projects and proactively identify improvements
tech-savvy skills and experience using apps and computer-based systems
a strong health and safety focus
a valid Full Class 1 driver's licence.

The Greymouth and Reefton Heritage and Visitor Team consist of 10 full time staff, 3 of those being based in the Reefton field Centre. The 2 teams work together on a variety of different work tasks. We have a great positive work culture and often work across teams when there is priority work on. The salary range for this position is $65,070 to $75,981 with the starting salary of the successful applicant based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
