Full job description

We are looking to add an enthusiastic team member to our dynamic team who will assist our Rates Department in dealing with quotes for freight traffic. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to join a market leading freight forwarder in the fast-paced world of international logistics.

The following duties are just some of the ones required of the role:

To manage the quotations process, beginning with obtaining a request from the customer, requesting the rate components from various suppliers and finally compiling the rate and submitting it to the customer within required timescales and to the customer's specifications

To manage and update the buying and selling figures for all rate components within various in-house systems

To maximise revenue for the business by negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best possible rates for the job

To provide effective communication by liaising with suppliers and customers throughout the quotation process

To provide effective management of the quotation process resolving any and all issues that arise

To provide a consistent and positive customer service experience and develop strong customer relationships

Skills and Competencies

Exceptional level of computer literacy, with proficient ability in using a variety of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Access

Minimum of 2 years office experience, or equivalent, of using the above

Minimum of grade C/4 in maths and English

Strong prioritisation skills

Impeccable attention to detail

Excellent phone manner and interpersonal skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong negotiation skills

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Be able to constructively deal with customer concerns

Strong focus on customer service

Knowledge of the freight industry would be advantageous, but not essential

A strongminded approach to workloads and the ability to act with confidence and decisiveness

Ability to reliably and confidently interpret complex data

Customer service: 1 year (desirable)

NB: This job description reflects the present requirements of the role. As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and will be subject to amendment in consultation with the individual.

NB: This role is to cover a period of maternity leave. There will be a minimum of six months available, with the possibility of extending this.
