About the role

Our national Innovation and Capital Incentives (ICI) team supports organisations in claiming R&D tax relief and other tax incentives that reward investment in innovation and capital. We are a diverse and collaborative team with specialists across Engineering, Science, Software, and Tax disciplines. We operate nationally, with hubs in key UK cities, and work across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, and life sciences.

What your days will look like

As a Senior Manager with an Engineering or Scientific background and experience in UK R&D incentives. You will operate in a hybrid role across the full client lifecycle—from business development and opportunity spotting through to claim preparation, technical interviews, compliance, team coaching, and strategic growth enablement.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage engineering-driven R&D claims, serving as the technical lead and reviewer.

Act as a senior point of contact and trusted advisor for clients and internal teams, ensuring delivery excellence on complex engagements with stakeholders like C-Suite executives, and drive growth by identifying opportunities and contributing to strategic proposals.

Liaise with HMRC on technical queries and compliance discussions, and provide cross-functional support across various innovation-related engagements.

Mentor and coach staff to enhance team capability, and contribute to the development and adoption of digital tools for improved efficiency and innovation.

This role is for you if

Experienced in preparing and reviewing robust UK R&D claims under both SME and RDEC regimes, particularly for engineering and industrial sectors

Deep subject matter knowledge in at least one core discipline (e.g. mechanical, civil, chemical, manufacturing, energy systems, materials, or systems engineering)

Strong commercial awareness with the ability to connect technical challenges to tax incentive eligibility

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including client-facing leadership and report drafting

Proven ability to lead and manage multiple concurrent engagements, balancing deadlines and quality

Experience with digital tools and a growth mindset toward AI, automation and delivery innovation

What you’ll receive from us

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.
