In most weeks, you'll deliver focused intervention sessions. In others, you'll facilitate brief motivation check-ins that help students stay aligned and reach their targets. This role is suited to people who value independence, rapid feedback cycles, and visible results. It's not for anyone seeking a rigid playbook or uncomfortable with data-driven instruction.

What You Will Be Doing
• Plan and facilitate virtual small-group and individualized reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
• Leverage reading assessment data to identify fluency and comprehension deficits and modify instruction in real time
• Adapt activities for diverse reading levels, including specialized support for dyslexia and similar reading challenges
• Monitor progress with clarity and consistency, using data to inform subsequent sessions
• Conduct structured motivation check-ins that cultivate confidence, perseverance, and pride in development
What You Won’t Be Doing
• Deliver large, whole-group lessons or present from a standardized curriculum
• Execute a scripted program without responding to student needs and live feedback
• Function as a passive "software supervisor" lacking meaningful teaching and rapport
• Depend on superficial incentives that fail to foster sustained motivation
Reading Specialist Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—by providing tailored virtual interventions and motivation support that strengthens confidence.
Basic Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
• Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
• Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
• At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
• Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
• Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
• Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
• Available to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona as needed.

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $30 USD/hour, which equates to $60,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
