POSITION SUMMARY
Prescott Valley Charter School is seeking a highly effective, high-accountability Reading Teacher for grades 4–6 who is committed to measurable student growth, instructional clarity, and consistent execution.
This role is NOT for a teacher who wings lessons, ignores data, or believes effort alone equals learning.
This role IS for a professional who understands that clear instruction, structured practice, and timely adjustments are what move students forward—especially in preparation for state assessments.
Reading teachers at PVCS are expected to drive growth, not simply deliver content.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction & Student Growth
Deliver explicit, standards-aligned reading instruction in grades 4–6
Teach comprehension, vocabulary, text evidence, and written responses with clarity and purpose
Model thinking aloud and reading strategies explicitly
Maintain consistent instructional routines and pacing
Prepare students for state-aligned reading assessments and formats
Ensure students demonstrate mastery—not just participation
Data-Driven Instruction
Use daily checks for understanding (CFUs) and exit tickets
Analyze student performance data regularly
Adjust instruction promptly when students are not mastering content
Monitor progress toward measurable growth goals
Collaborate with leadership to strengthen instructional outcomes
Classroom Leadership & Professional Practice
Maintain strong classroom presence and student accountability
Uphold high expectations for effort, behavior, and academic output
Participate fully in observations, coaching, and data meetings
Implement feedback with fidelity and follow-through
Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and reliability
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Valid Arizona teaching certification (or ability to obtain)
Experience teaching upper elementary students (grades 4–6)
Strong instructional presence and classroom management
Ability to clearly explain, model, and scaffold reading strategies
Comfort using student data to guide instruction
Preferred:
Experience teaching reading, ELA, or literacy intervention
Familiarity with state assessments and test preparation
Experience working with diverse learners, including ELL students
Ability to replicate effective lessons across multiple classes
