As a Receptionist you will work with the public and perform a variety of duties in the Cemeteries Customer Service Centre. Primary duties include:
Be the first contact for all inquiries for the City Cemeteries.
Provide customer service to families, funeral homes and contractors in person, telephone and email.
Respond to a variety of cemetery inquiries.
Verify burial information and input information into cemetery records and data base.
Order office supplies regularly to maintain adequate stock levels and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Handle invoice payments and inquiries.
Ensure appointments are recorded and handled promptly.
Aid in correspondence sent from Cemetery Administration.
File documents accurately and promptly to ensure proper organization and easy retrieval when needed.
Sell cemetery items (e.g. seasonal wreaths, urns, memorial items).
Assist families with locating graves.
Arrange display items for sale.
Qualifications
A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) and at least 1 year of customer service experience in a high-volume environment.
Previous cash handling/cash register experience and a professional telephone manner while dealing with emotionally charged client circumstances is required.
Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.
Knowledge of more than one language would be considered an asset.
Success in this position requires strong communication skills, a working knowledge of grief processes and the ability to work with customers in varying stages of grief.
The applicant must possess the ability to work in a very stressful, high-volume environment while demonstrating sympathetic concern.
Strong customer service, organizational, attention to detail and accuracy along with multi-tasking skills are essential.
The successful applicant must be able to undertake duties with minimal supervision and contribute as a team player.
