Our Linux development team is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the full stack (Linux kernel and its device drivers, libraries, tools, compilers, debuggers, virtualization (KVM) and test automation & CI/CD). We tightly collaborate with the international development teams of IBM (e.g. hardware and firmware development), the global maintainers of Open Source communities, and our Linux distribution partners (Red Hat, SUSE, Canonical). Our focus is on the support of the IBM Z / LinuxONE architecture, e.g. OCP Base, Addons (ODO, Compliance operator), etc. Linux on IBM Z / LinuxONE forms the basis of many of IBM s commercial solutions in Cloud, Analytics and AI.
Responsibilities:
Our OpenShift on Z team is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the key components of the stack Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Architecture OpenShift Container Platform (developer services), OpenShift Kubernetes Engine (Cluster services). We tightly collaborate with the Redhat and international development teams of IBM (e.g. hardware and firmware development), the global maintainers of Open Source communities.
Your responsibilities will comprise of design and specifications for new enhancements, coding (including test automation), problem determination and bug fixing, performance analysis, and solving client problems. Your attendance at Open Source community meetings is recommended and supported, and client facing activities (e.g. client support, providing lectures at conferences) are possible.
In this job offering, we are specifically looking for a new team member to grow our OpenSHIFT for Linux on Z Development Squad. Hands-on exposure to OpenSHIFT would be desirable, Exposure and contribution to OKD would be an asset. Your job would involve ensuring OpenSHIFT works on Linux on Z Arch.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 4 6 years of hands-on experience in writing code either in GoLang or Python
• Strong knowledge on Linux operating system
• Working knowledge of leveraging Docker, Contrainer, K8S interfaces.
• Hands on experience in OpenSHIFT development, Operator framework Upstream and downstream contributions.
• Hands-on experience with different installation, configuration of OCP cluster.
• Solid experience in Virtualization, experience with CI tools (Tektron), etc.
• Working with OpenSHIFT community or related experience in Management Tools.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Exposure to how Linux and Open source Community works Community Maintainer or contributor (List out GitHub link to the contributions in profile).
• Knowledge of how Operating Systems work would be great.
• Familiar with Fundamentals of Cloud ,
• Konwledge of Network cofigurations(DNS,Firewalls, Load balancer ) and backed Storages
