Position Summary:
The Recruitment Specialist leads priority and operational recruitment initiatives, partnering closely with the People & Culture team to deliver effective, timely hiring outcomes aligned with organizational capacity. As a key member of the People & Culture team, this role supports the science center’s mission and vision by fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and client service excellence through thoughtful, people-centered recruitment practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with hiring managers to deliver timely, values-based recruitment solutions.
Provide practical guidance and hands-on support to meet priority and short-term staffing needs.
Apply consistent recruitment best practices that reflect the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Prepare and post job advertisements using approved role descriptions and cost-effective recruitment channels.
Support recruitment marketing and sourcing efforts to attract candidates aligned with our culture and values.
Assist with the administration and promotion of the employee referral program
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities, including application screening, interview scheduling, and interview participation as needed.
Support a positive, respectful candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
Liaise with external recruitment agencies when required.
Coordinate reference and background checks.
Support the preparation and presentation of employment offers in partnership with the People & Culture team.
Assist with onboarding activities to ensure a smooth transition for new hires and conduct early engagement check-ins.

Maintain accurate recruitment records in the applicant tracking system.
Support basic recruitment reporting, including candidate flow and time-to-fill.
Work collaboratively with the People & Culture team and help represent the organization at recruitment-related events as needed.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and exercise initiative to ensure high-quality service.
Ability to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills: accuracy is essential.
Outstanding guest service orientation in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
Post-secondary education in a related field (Human Resources, Business Administration, etc.)
Minimum 2+ years of human resources recruitment or adminstrative experience
Prior recruitment experience is essential.
General understanding of Alberta Employment Standards and related legislation.
Note: A clean Police Information Check including the vulnerable sector is a condition of employment for successful candidates. The check must be completed prior to commencement of work and is the financial responsibility of the candidate.
Wages: $23.06-$25.75 per hour based on experience
Hours of Work: 15-20 hours a week based on operational needs. A flexible schedule is required based on seasonal recruitment needs. Standard operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30 pm
