Recycling Specialist
We are looking for a Recycling Specialist that will also provide coverage for inside sales out of our facility located in Kelowna. You will play a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability and community safety. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage all recycling programs our company operates. This role is ideal for an individual that likes to work in a high paced environment and who can multi-task and prioritize their day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive products from public and sort them into groups of recyclables
Oversee the proper collection/identification, handling, and disposal of Household Hazardous Waste materials
Package Household Hazardous Waste recycling and prepare it for shipping according to TDG regulations
Package electronics recyclables and prepare them for shipping
Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
Retail battery sales for all applications
Ensure property, facilities, and equipment remain in good order
Communicate with the public to ensure they receive service and advice on recycling programs available
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Knowledge in working with B.C. recycling programs would be an asset
Must be familiar with POS computer systems
Ability to use a forklift would be an asset (We will train the successful candidate)
Knowledgeable about workplace safety in a shop or warehouse environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule including the occasional Saturday (Rotation)
Knowledge of WHIMIS and TDG would be an asset (We will train the successful candidate)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employees are required to:
Stand/work for long periods of time on their feet
Work in an outdoor & indoor environment
Must be able to lift and carry bulky and heavy items (up to 75Lbs+-)
Must be able to work with the public
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
