THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Regional Credit Analyst oversees credit and collection functions for multiple properties within a defined region. This role involves managing credit risk, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and optimizing accounts receivable processes to maximize revenue and minimize losses. Responsibilities include reviewing credit applications, monitoring outstanding balances, and implementing collection strategies, while also fostering strong relationships with hotel staff and other stakeholders.
THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Regional Credit Analyst oversees credit and collection functions for multiple properties within a defined region. This role involves managing credit risk, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and optimizing accounts receivable processes to maximize revenue and minimize losses. Responsibilities include reviewing credit applications, monitoring outstanding balances, and implementing collection strategies, while also fostering strong relationships with hotel staff and other stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities for the Regional Credit Analyst include, but are not limited to the following:
Credit Management:
Review and approve credit applications for new and existing customers.
Establish and manage credit limits for individual accounts.
Monitor creditworthiness of clients and manage credit exposure.
Ensure compliance with company credit policies and procedures.
Accounts Receivable Management:
Oversee the billing and collection processes for all accounts receivable.
Implement strategies to minimize outstanding balances and bad debt.
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to accounts receivable.
Manage and resolve billing inquiries and disputes.
Team Leadership:
Provide guidance and support to hotel credit and accounting staff.
Conduct training and development activities to enhance team performance.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with hotel staff, including sales, catering, and front desk.
Liaise with external parties such as collection agencies and legal counsel.
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess potential credit risks within the region.
Develop and implement strategies to mitigate credit risk.
Monitor and report on the overall credit risk profile of the region.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and present regular reports on credit and collection performance.
Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Provide recommendations to senior management on credit-related matters.
Other Duties:
Assist with month-end closing and reporting processes.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:
Academic/Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a diploma in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years’ previous experience in credit management, with Hotel experience considered an asset
Strong understanding of credit principles, accounting practices, and collection procedures
Strong attention to detail, advanced MS Excel skills, and analytical
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Demonstrated customer service skills, both internal and external, with the ability to resolve conflicts
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Willingness to work overtime during reporting peak periods
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation for complex documentation
Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Mental Effort required to perform the job:
Frequent mental attentiveness and listening is required when dealing with Accounting & Finance tasks.
Frequent mental effort is required in multi-tasking, handling interruptions, and/or Employee/Manager queries, which require constant refocusing.
Frequent mental effort is required in meeting stringent deadlines.
Frequent levels of concentration required for accuracy when dealing with Accounting & Finance tasks and initiatives.
Physical Effort required to perform the job:
Continuously requires manual dexterity speed and hand/eye coordination for work at a computer.
Periodic lifting of computer hardware and administrative materials such as laptops, physical files, binders, etc.
Responsibility for Resources:
Responsible for work area.
Responsible for confidential Accounting & Finance documents, equipment, and protocols related to the company.
Working Conditions
Continuously working at a workstation assigned by the Manager.
Continuously working in a climate-controlled office.
Frequently travels to properties, as required.
Frequent meetings (in-person, virtual) to discuss various Accounting & Finance subject matter.
Temporary hybrid working arrangement, subject to change.
Regular working hours, as required.
